Deep Cleaning Checklist: The Tasks Your Weekly Cleaning Misses

Weekly cleaning keeps a home presentable. Deep cleaning is everything hiding behind, under, and inside — and the secret is that it should almost never happen as one giant weekend.

How often is a deep clean actually needed?

If nothing above ever happens, a home needs a full deep clean about twice a year — the notorious multi-day spring clean. But almost every item on the list has a natural monthly or seasonal rhythm; see how often should you clean for per-task frequencies. Handle them on that rhythm and the “deep clean” as an event simply stops existing.

The rotation trick

Take the list above and give every item a slot — one 20-minute deep task per week:

  1. Week 1: one kitchen item (say, the microwave + one fridge shelf)
  2. Week 2: one bathroom item (grout, or the showerhead bag)
  3. Week 3: one floors item (under the sofa, baseboards in one room)
  4. Week 4: one textiles item (duvet cover, pillow covers, curtains)

Twelve months later, everything on this page has been done two to four times — and no single day contained more than 20 minutes of it. The hard part isn’t the work; it’s remembering a 52-slot rotation. Which is exactly the part to outsource.

🫧 How Bubbles runs the rotation

Bubbles’ preset library has a dedicated Deep Cleaning tab for every room. Add the tasks you care about, and each one repeats on its own monthly or custom cycle — surfacing on your daily list when due, with its minute estimate attached. The 52-slot rotation becomes something you never think about: the app is the rotation.

Set it up in Bubbles (4 minutes)

  1. Open each room → presets → Deep Cleaning tab and add what applies.
  2. Set monthly or custom intervals (every 6 weeks, every 3 months — anything).
  3. Watch one deep task drip onto your list each week. Twenty minutes, done, gone until next cycle.

Deep cleaning, drip-fed

Bubbles schedules each deep-clean task on its own monthly or seasonal cycle, so the big stuff happens 20 minutes at a time — never as a lost Saturday.
