How Often Should You Clean Everything? Room-by-Room Answers
Sheets weekly or monthly? When does the oven actually need it? Here are the sensible frequencies for every room — and an honest note on which ones you can stretch.
Kitchen
| Task | Frequency |
| Dishes, counters, stovetop wipe-down | Daily |
| Sink scrub, floors, trash-can wipe | Weekly |
| Microwave interior, fridge shelf rotation | Monthly |
| Oven interior, behind/under appliances, pantry purge | Every 3–6 months |
Bathroom
| Task | Frequency |
| Sink + mirror wipe | Every few days |
| Toilet, shower/tub, floors, towels swapped | Weekly |
| Grout scrub, showerhead descale, exhaust fan dust | Monthly |
| Bath mat wash, cabinet declutter | Every 1–2 months |
Bedroom
| Task | Frequency |
| Make bed, clothes off the chair | Daily |
| Sheets and pillowcases | Every 1–2 weeks |
| Vacuum, dust surfaces | Weekly |
| Duvet cover, under-bed vacuum, mattress rotate | Monthly / seasonal |
Living areas
| Task | Frequency |
| Quick tidy / reset | Daily |
| Vacuum floors and rugs, dust surfaces + TV | Weekly |
| Sofa cushions off + vacuum beneath, wipe remotes and switches | Monthly |
| Windows, curtains, baseboards, ceiling fans | Seasonal |
The honest caveats
- Pets or allergies: floors and soft surfaces move up one notch (weekly → twice weekly).
- Live alone, barely cook? Many “weekly” kitchen tasks stretch fine to two weeks. Frequencies are a starting point, not a law.
- The real problem isn’t knowing the numbers — it’s that 40 different intervals can’t be tracked in a head. Sheets on a 10-day cycle, grout monthly, oven quarterly: nobody remembers that. Paper calendars die by March.
🫧 How Bubbles keeps the schedule for you
This table is Bubbles’ preset library. Each chore already carries its recommended frequency — change any of them to fit your home, or set custom intervals like every 10 days. From then on, every task simply reappears on your daily list when it’s due. Overdue items show up flagged but calm; the app never lets one missed grout-scrub snowball into shame.
Set it up in Bubbles (3 minutes)
- Add presets to each room — frequencies come pre-filled from tables like the ones above.
- Tweak the handful your household disagrees with (sheets weekly, floors twice a week — your call).
- Trust the Daily tab. If it’s not on today’s list, it’s genuinely not due.
Frequencies you never have to remember
Every chore in Bubbles carries its own repeat schedule — daily to yearly — and resurfaces exactly when it's due. No mental tracking, no guilt math.
